Follow Lighthouse road (as above) for 1.6km where the Summit track branches off to the right. Follow this 600m boulder-strewn track upwards through woodland to the summit. At the summit (269m) slabs of granite and windswept casuarina trees frame magnificent views over the island, surrounding reefs and mainland. (4.4km return, 3 hours total, Grade: Medium)

"It was quite a walk to the top. Great exercise. We had to go the long route towards the lighthouse. The shorter route starts behind the hotel, but it wasn't safe to travel that day."
