Overview of Palau Aquarium and International Coral Reef Center

The Palau Aquarium is the interpretive division of the Palau International Coral Reef Center. It's goal is to stimulate interest, increase knowledge and promote stewardship of Palau and the world's coral reefs and marine environment. Exhibit themes reflect Palau's diverse eco-system. The indoor exhibits take you deep into the ocean depths. Observe stingless mastigia jellyfish, rare and exotic creatures that use camouflage for survival, amazing and rare deepwater creatures such as the deepwater butterflyfish, colorful dartfish and fan corals, Palau's own chambered nautilus and cave dwellers that can produce light. Or, observe the symbiotic relationships that exist between sea anemone and anemone fish, corals and coral crabs and shimp goby and pistol shrimp. The Outer Reef exhibit, one of the largest in the world, is home to a diverse collection of fairy basslets, angelfish, butterflyfish and wrasses along with an array of hard corals, soft corals, leather corals, gorgonians and many other extraordinary and unique creatures. Finally, the Coral Biology and Coral Cultivation exhibits provide an even closer look at the many varieties of corals found througout Palau. Your journey ends at the Giant Clam and Crocodile Exhibits where you'll see a variety of giant clams and also a glimpse of Palau's saltwater crocodiles. Be sure to visit the Giant Clam Gift Shop for a cool drink or ice cream treat. It also offers an assortment of marine related souvenirs, books, artwork and locally made products.

Brion H. wrote about Zoni Beach (Playa Zoni):

"It takes longer to get here, so it's less crowded, and just as good as Playa Flamenco (without the food and restroom options). We took a taxi to get there ($15 each way). We actually spent most of our time past the rocks on the west side. Playa Brava looks too far to walk from here, but Playa Larga Beach looks reachable.
