Overview of The Ranch

The Ranch/Horse Sanctuary is situated at Lope Lope Adventure Lodge on the beautiful east coast of Espiritu Santo, approximately 10 minutes drive from the town of Luganville.

Your Horse Trails begin with the unique experience of arriving at the rustic western style Ranch ,before saddling up, Megan and Fabrice the (owners, English and French speaking) will assess your riding skills and select a horse appropriate to your ability.

Your complimentary freshly cut, cold coconut, and/or tea/ coffee are available after the trail.

Full modern outdoor shower, toilet, bar and restaurant facilities are available for your convenience, before and after the trail.

The Ranch only rides in small groups of up to 8 riding guests, so you can be assured of feeling perfectly looked after during your trail ride.

Horse and rider safety are a consideration at all times and the wearing of safety helmets (provided) and suitable riding boots or any closed shoes are compulsory for all riders at all times. Shorts can be worn as western saddles are used.

Prior to your trail ride, a short warming up and training session will be held in the corral to familiarize riders to their horses and western saddles.

Santo is still very much in its natural state and what better way to experience the pristine beauty that abounds on this island than by horseback. The ride starts at the Ranch, were you will then follow a flowing fresh water creek passing through a typical Melanesian style village, passing copra dryers and a private “Blue Hole” while getting up close and personal with the native culture. Climbing steadily, you will arrive to a breath taking view of east Santo and surrounding islands. Slowly descending to the rain forest to follow a trail to the while sandy beach of Lope Lope were aqua blue clear water awaits you.

The trails range from 1 to 2 hours or they can customize your trail to suit your requirements.

Brion H. wrote about War Bunkers and Barracks:

"It was pretty cool, but we had a really hard time finding the road to get here. One sign said Barracks, but it was pointing at the wrong road, and in the wrong direction. We went inside one of the bunkers, and it was partially filled with old TVs and computer monitors. It felt a little creepy to be there, as these have been abandoned for years. Strange, but worth the trip.
