Overview of Pahieke (Paike) Marine Park

This pleasant, breezy swim-picnic-camp park is located on a network of dredged coral causeways that extend out into the lagoon at the point where the road begins to turn east toward the Awak Valley. A number of thatched residential huts varying in size and a nahs (meeting hut) or two are positioned around the water's edge for guests at an extra cost (small huts: $5.00, big huts: $15.00). The swimming is good all along the west side, though the shallows tend to be silty rather than sandy. Snorkelers should follow the edge of the reef further out into the lagoon for best results. The kids will love tinkering around in the shallows under the shady trees.

Pahieke operates on a reservation-only basis, and is privately-owned. Call Bryan Damarlane to make reservations for day visits or overnight stays.

Vera H. wrote about Zom Zom Trail:

"This is a decent trail that you can go on without a guide. It's a great way to get your heart pumping if you're looking for some exercise. I was scared at first to go down the difficult part (where you have to use a rope to get down a slightly steep area). But it wasn't that bad once I got going. There are great views at the end of the trail. I could've sat there for hours watching the giant waves roll into the rocks & the shore. When you are going back, keep an eye out for markers that help point the way. When making your way back to Jungle Bay, after the rope climb back up the steep area, keep to your right to get back on the trail.
